Best's Review Author Guidelines

Best's Review magazine is published for insurance professionals, including home office executives, agents, brokers and others who are affiliated with the industry, such as bankers, lawyers and educators. We have a staff of award-winning journalists, but routinely supplement our magazine with articles written by insurance professionals. These articles discuss specific trends, problems and issues affecting this industry.

We receive many submissions for publication and can accept only a portion of those. Most frequently, we decline articles because they discuss topics we've recently covered or the article is promotional material in the guise of an article. Our bottom line: Would this article interest and inform the insurance professionals who read Best's Review?

For information on topics that will be covered in Best's Review, view our editorial calendar. Articles are not limited to these topics, however, and other ideas are welcome.

If you want to submit an article for publication in Best's Review, please read the "Rules for Submitting Articles." Then follow the "Steps for Submitting Articles."

Best's Review also publishes up to six insight columns monthly. They contain approximately 750 words and include the following topics: Property/Casualty Selling, Property/Casualty Underwriting, Property/Casualty Loss/Risk Management, Life/Health Selling, Life/Health Underwriting and Technology.

Insurance professionals are selected to write insight columns based on their credentials, particularly their expertise in a particular subject. Often, these people have come to the attention of the News Group because they have been interviewed as a source for news stories or they have spoken at the E-Fusion conference.

After a person has written at least three insight columns for Best's Review, the magazine editor and the associate editor or senior associate editor who has been working with that person may decide to ask that person to continue writing insight columns on a regular basis, usually quarterly. This decision is based on the quality of the writing, the timeliness of the topics selected and whether the person produces the columns by the agreed-upon deadline.

If the person agrees to write regular insight columns, the designation "a Best's Review Insight columnist" is added to the author ID box that is published with each insight column.

If you are interested in submitting an insight column to Best's Review, please contact the editor. Due to our large number of regular columnists, not all topics have opportunities for new submissions.
